The Oomph Factor

Do you feel tired, fatigued and zestless all the time?  Do you wake up after a good night’s sleep feeling groggy? Are you forever in the noddy mood? Well, blame it on your diet. Not eating well can cause various health problems and one of them is low energy levels. This slump in the energy levels can lead to depression, insomnia and give you a permanent feeling of being unwell. So what do you do? Well get some oomph in your diet, zing it up a bit and get moving. Here’s what you should do to get those levels pacing up again.

  • Breakfast– Never ever skip the day starter. This marks the beginning of your glorious day. So make your breakfast fancy and smart.A few options are
    • Cereal and milk(low fat)
    • Stuffed roti with buttermilk( great for summers)
    • Veggie sandwhich
    • Idlis/ dosa and sambhar
    • Eggs and bread( the classic!)

Avoid having too much sugar in the morning as it tampers with your blood sugar levels. The aim is to maintain good energy levels and sugary foods will just give you a sugar upsurge only to come crashing down.

  • Mini Meals– Eat every three hours! Yes, eating small tiny meals every 3 hours does wonders to your energy levels. A fruit, a handful of nuts, some air popped pocorn, a low calorie salad  are a few options to share.
  • Fibre– Load yourself on fibre as you will feel full for long. The more you feel fuller, the more consistent your energy levels will be. Fruits, veggies, salads, roti, idli, rice are all rich in fibre.
  • Water– The wonder drink is truly wonderous in practically everything you can imagine. It is a great feel good drink. Since it is body friendly and it is a great for flushing out toxins and clearing the system.
  • Chai Time– Cut down your chai a bit. Though rich in antioxidants, having too much of tea also leads to lethargy. However if you are a chai addict, then switch to green tea. It’s heathier and keeps you on your feet.

        Overall just keep a positive attitude and you’ll see the difference.
