5 Reasons Why Green Tea Is Good For You

Posted on: October 3, 2008

Do you feel stressed and fazed out most times? Is your weighing scale showing an upward trend? Are you prone to catch cold or flu easily? If the answer to these questions is affirmative, then I think you need a cup of tea. Yes, your cuppa chai does more than just waking you up. Tea is a powerhouse of antioxidants which are known to give your immune system a pep. All kinds of teas are great for health, but the one that stands out is the green tea.

Green tea is the least processed of all teas and thus is a great source of antioxidants and nutrients. Ideally you should have 3-4 cups of green tea in a day, here’s why:

  1.  Our bodies fight everyday with smoke, pollution, stress, pesticides, unhealthy food..green tea acts as a boost against this fight. It provides your immune system with the necessary nutrients to win this fight.
  2. Green tea is known to have anti cancer properties. It contains a super antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is known to kill and stop the growth of cancer cells without harming other body tissue. It has also been a preventive source for lowering cholesterol levels and blood clot formation.
  3. Drinking green tea keeps your teeth healthy.
  4. Green tea makes you lose weight. That’s right, by drinking 3-4 cups of green tea daily you will burn an extra 70- 80 calories in a day. This means adding green tea to your weight loss diet can make you get into your old jeans faster.
  5. It is a great metabolism booster.

So instead of reaching out for that juice or coke, make a cup of refreshing green tea when you come back from work. You’ll see the difference it does to you. So go ahead, drink green for health!
