Foods Under 40 Calories

carrotsIf you have been searching your grocery store for low calorie snacks to munch on, then you have gone a bit further. You will be amazed but your kitchen has a full stock of low calorie healthy snacks to munch on. Here is a list of foods under 40 calories that you can munch on day or night.

  • 1/2 grapefruit – 37 calories
  • 1 plum-  35 calories 
  • 1 lemon – 10 calories
  • 1 glass lemon water with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar-25 calories
  • 1 cup airpopped pocorn-30 calories
  •  1/2 orange –  33 calories
  • 1/2cup of melon – 30 calories
  •  1 peach – 35 calories
  •  1/2 cup strawberries – 22 calories
  • 1 small guava- 24 calories
  • 4 lichees-24 calories
  • 4 oilves-34 calories
  • 1 small apricot-36 calories
  • 2 scrambled egg whites prepared on nonstick with 1/4 teaspoon oil-  30 calorie 
  • 1/2 cup of cabbage –  15 calories
  • 1/2 cup of bell pepper – 15 calories
  • 1 medium sized cucumber – 22 calories
  • 3 baby carrots-23  calories
  • 1/2 cup of turnips – 15 calories 
  • 3 florets of cauliflower – 13 calories
  • 1/2 cup of greens(palak, methi, bathua) – 15 calories
  • 1 cup lettuce – 9 calories
  • 1/2 cup of mushrooms – 20 calories 
  • 1/2 cup green beans-23 calories
  • 1 cup of radishes – 20 calories

In case you want to increase the quantity of some foods then calculate the calorie content accordingly.These foods are high in fibre and nutrients.You can add your favourite spices and experiment by combining various foods.It is all up to you to make the low calorie foods a feast to enjoy.

Interesting. Unfortunately none of my favourite foods made the list. I would usually rather have a VERY small piece of pizza than a cup of cabbage (I usually use the calorie calculator at meal plans 101 to figure out how much I can eat, but with the food I like it’s just never enough).

Hi Roberta, i totally agree with you, there is no end to nibbling on one’s favourite foods. That is the reason i devised this list, it works for me as i crave for a couple of days and then it’s fine. And when my scale shows a lower number i get more motivated to stick on to the list. Believe me these foods really work, me being quite a muncher myself..i just cannot stay hungry, so this works just perfect for me.Of course i do have my favourite food days…however then it’s more of a binge rather than a nibble. Thanks for your comment, do keep writing.

help i work out 7days a week. i need 7 healthy meals under 150 calories
pls i what to loose 5kg a month

They say that Fudgicles are only 40 calories but I don’t think that’s true. I’ve gained weight eating them.
