Spinaps(Low Fat Spinach Chips)-30 Calories Only

Posted on: September 13, 2016

I came up with this recipe in the midst of pulling my hair out over my daughter’s dislike for veggies. I cooked up these chips and put them in an empty bag of chips. I was relieved when she asked for more. Spinach hardly has any calories and is rich in vitamin A and iron .This is a great recipe for all those who are trying to lose weight, moms worried over their child’s eating habits(like me) or simply just about anyone.. Hope you enjoy it!

5-6 fresh spinach leaves

1/2 teaspoon oil (sesame or olive)

1 teaspoon chilli powder/ paprika

1 teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon salt

  • 1. Wash, dry the spinach leaves and tear them into small pieces(chip sized)
  • 2. Place the leaves in a microwave dish and add oil, paprika black pepper and salt.
  • 3. Mix well so that the leaves are well coated with the masala.
  • 4. Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes till the chips are crisp and done.

Serves 2

Tip– The chips tend to cook very fast, so keep a check on the temperature of the microwave. Different brands will have a variation with the temperature. So do a test first with a small batch, before putting in all the chips. You can also try this recipe with cabbage or mooli(raddish) leaves also.

I make spinach chips daily. I believe that I have perfected my method. I use prewashed organic spinach so it starts out dry. Place a large handful or more on a regular plate. Microwave 1 min. and remove from microwave and let it cool a minute. Microwave another min. and remove again. The third minute watch very closely so it doesn’t try to burn. You should have very crispy spinach. If not, repeat for a few seconds. Its delicious.
